Shalom Counselling Centre
Position / Placement: Kid’s Corral Hosts
VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Kid’s Corral Hosts
Time Commitment: Saturday, July 21st – 3 hour shifts
Reports to: Community Relations Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES and ORIENTATION
For the third year, Shalom Counselling will be providing volunteers to assist with children’s activities during Westerner Days. The Kids’ Corral is an indoor play space for children and their parents to visit during the Fair. It also has a Calm Room for adults and children alike needing a place to just remove themselves from the busyness and heat of the midway.
On Saturday, July 21st, we will need 18 – 20 volunteers who enjoy working with children to supervise the activities and maintain cleanliness in the Calm Room. Each shift is 3 hours long and Westerner Park provides a generous midway package to each volunteer in exchange for their service. Teens over the age of 14 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult volunteer (i.e. their parent).
Because Shalom relies on support from the community to provide services to our clients, we see this as an excellent way for us to give a little something back as well as build awareness of our agency and the work we do.
An orientation to Shalom Counselling Centre will be provided, as well as information specific to this role. At the beginning of each shift, an orientation to the Kid’s Corral procedures will be given to all volunteers.
