Position / Placement: PIT CREW MEMBER
MAKE A DIFFERENCE BECOME A PIT CREW MEMBER TODAY!
The Role: Ok so we may not be talking about motor racing, but being a Priority Impact Team (PIT) crew member for United Way is just as exciting and much more fulfilling!
There are three PIT crews; one for each of our three priority areas:
- Education Enabling Kids to Be All that Kids Can Be From the early years to adulthood, we re supporting the full path of development to help children and youth achieve their potential.
- Income Moving People from Poverty to Possibility We are working with the community to create opportunities so that individuals with low or limited incomes can prosper.
- Wellness Promoting Healthy People, Strong Communities We are supporting individuals and families to feel a personal sense of wellbeing and connection to their community.
From January through March, the PIT crew members visit agencies, assess applications to ensure that they align with United Way priorities and recommend funding allocations to the Community Impact Council (CIC) who makes the final decisions about how donor dollars will be invested in our community.
The Commitment: Join a PIT crew for the busy January to March period and assist with the applicant reviews and agency visits. If at all possible PIT Crew members should also attend the decision- making retreat in March.
Desirable Experience and Skills: No previous experience is necessary, as you will participate in a detailed orientation; receive great support from your team of volunteers and the UW staff. The main requirements are enthusiasm, an interest in our community and a commitment to see the task through to the conclusion. The following would be useful but should not be seen as a barrier to participation as all the necessary training and information will be given to PIT Crew members: • Understanding of broad social issues and trends in Central Alberta • Knowledge of social services sector in Central Alberta • Understanding of community collaborations and partnerships • Understanding of research and evaluation
