Position / Placement: Volunteer Advocate
We are seeking Volunteer Advocates- a few good Men and Women to accept the challenge of helping others in the community and to make a difference in the lives of victims of crime and tragedy.
Our volunteer advocates will experience basic and ongoing developmental training while working in partnership with the RCMP to provide direct support, information and referrals to victims and witnesses of crime and tragedy.
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of two years of volunteering.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide confidential, non-judgmental, sensitive, emotionally safe service related to victims' needs.
- Able to pass RCMP enhanced security clearance.
- Attend monthly volunteer meetings.
- Crisis response volunteers must have use of a car and possess a valid driver's license.
- Complete Solicitor General & Public Safety Basic Training (offered on line)
