Position / Placement: Volunteer Presenter
Positions Description & Tasks:
Classroom Presenters - Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom
Are you a scientist, engineer or subject-matter specialist looking to give back to the community? Then join us as a volunteer presenter and help promote a life-long interest in science, technology and nature. With programs for children, educators and the general public, we “bring science to life” in Red Deer and surrounding area. Training, presentation guidelines and materials are available. Four presentations a year and a one year commitment is expected.
Specifically, we are in great need of presenters to prepare and present a science curriculum-based, hands-on presentation to elementary and middle school classrooms.
Duration: Long-term, Ongoing (6+ months)
Certification or Education Required: degree or diploma in science, engineer, or specialization in one of the curriculum subjects
Qualification and/or Skills Required:
Background in science/engineering, ability to communicate with children effectively in English and/or French
Applicable Interests: education, chemistry, biology, resource management, mechanical engineering, geology, flight, music, audiology
