Good Business of the Month: Peavey Industries
Written by Ryan Charles Parker
If you want supplies to build a house, you go to a local hardware store. If you want help promoting community solidarity, you go to a local charitable organization. If you want both, you go to Peavey Industries LP.
Peavey Industries LP owns and operates every Peavey Mart, TSC Store and MainStreet Hardware. All told, the company has stores in over 90 locations. And they give back in every one of them.
In Red Deer, Peavey Industries supports many local initiatives. As Jest Sidloski, Director of Marketing & Customer Experience, told me: “Peavey Industries LP prides itself on our corporate responsibility.”
And the company’s actions live up to those words. Some of their community work includes sponsoring events such as the CFR, Westerner Days and even a Barn Dance. They support the Red Deer Food Bank, The Children’s Advocacy Center and so many more.
All of their humble deeds add up to help Red Deer enormously. But Peavey Industries LP is a large company that also supports large works of charity. For instance, Peavey Industries LP has a program called the Peavey Industries Community Agricultural Grant, which provides $100,000 to organizations that are trying to make their communities a better place. The money has gone to various causes. As Jest explained, that the money went to diverse causes like “schools or seniors developments growing indoor gardens, aquaponics, hydroponics, bees and more.” One of the main aims of such programs is to bring awareness to issues such as food security.
Peavey Industries LP started in Red Deer, and now has many locations under various brands across the country. And they all give back. For instance, all of their stores are involved with 4H. They do things such as fundraising through barbecues and other events, and provide discounts for youth in 4H.
If I were to list all of help Peavey Industries LP provides, this article would rival the dictionary in length. Suffice to say, their contributions are truly great. The only question is why. Jest explained to me what Peavey Industries LP is looking to do moving forward, after a recent company event:
“We invited employees, vendors and customers from across Canada to tell us how we were doing and what we could do even better. We came out of those meetings with a united focus and a renewed commitment to our customers, our communities and to each other. Our staff also told us they wanted to do more in the community and more with sustainability, so we will be looking into how we better serve not only our customers, but our communities and staff as well.”
All of that charitable work and Peavey Industries LP is still looking to improve. That is impressive.
